For the classroom and the couch
One page per book. Each guide has a few questions to talk about together and one thing to do afterwards. None of it needs preparing.
A page a book
Read the book first, all the way through, without stopping to ask anything. The talking comes afterward.
The feeling in this book: accidents happen, even big pink foamy ones, and owning up is safe.
The feeling in this book: sometimes the kindest thing you can do for a friend is sit quietly and wait.
The feeling in this book: not wanting to share is allowed, and being given room to think about it is what lets a child change their mind.
The feeling in this book: worrying about a new place is ordinary, and it does not go away because somebody tells you there is nothing to worry about. It gets smaller when you have something to do.
The feeling in this book: being frightened of the dark is not something to be talked out of. It gets easier when somebody stays, and when the frightening thing turns out to be something you can look at properly.
For teachers. One page to print for every child and send home in the backpack, with a line to write in the book you read and a short note to parents about what the stories are like.
When new things are added
Send a note to the address below and we will write to you when the next Mitzy book or printable is out. Nothing else, and never anyone else's list.
